So we were pretty desperate for food during the two weeks as we stayed in our guest room at the little inn... We'd only been introduced to one basic meal at a restaurant and, while tasty, I'd wager it was a good 20% MSG! I hadn't ventured through the market yet (and we didn't have peeler or any way to adequately wash produce), so my experience was limited to the handful of vendors in the alleyway and the "Walmart" type store that has paper products, housewares and junk food... I bought some Bubble Tea that came with this free snack...

Yeah, I thought they'd all try it, have a new experience, and practice saying "That's interesting" in the privacy of our room...

They were all excited (and just plain hungry), so they couldn't wait to tear into this tasty new "treat."
Unfortunately, I somehow posted the procession backward, but you get the idea...
They were all thrilled, then apprehensive, then utterly disgusted. The funniest part was that Emma quickly regained her composure and determined she loved it! Thanks to an opportunity to try a similar "treat" a friend offered her in the states (Thanks Mary Ann and Mrs. Becky!), she had decided that trying at least this particular new food was pretty cool! Yup... She was soon double-fisting this seaweed snack! Granted, this is the same girl who still sobs occasionally because she wants milk AND who melted down in a restaurant when met with the disappointment of "Nachos" Asian style, but I was particularly proud of her as her enthusiasm rubbed off on her sisters that day... How was it? Honestly, I can't tell ya... they ate it all before I had the chance to try it!

Erin - I'm just catching up on your blog, so sorry this is a way late comment. I can totally relate to the food dilema of the first two weeks. At times I thought my stomach would never stop growling and was hearing "I'm hungry" in my sleep. We had brought quite a few snacks for the plane ride that weren't eaten, but once those were gone it was really hard.
